Our Primary 4, 5, 6 and 7 pupils are taking part in the Accelerated Reading Program. In this program pupils complete an online quiz which determines their reading level. Pupils will then choose books within their reading range. Pupils are given the opportunity to read silently and independently for a minimum of 20 mins daily in class. After reading a book the pupil should quiz within 24 hours. Quizzes which children have successfully passed will help them move towards their target. Their number of words read is accumulated throughout the year. A child who reaches a total of one million words read achieves the title of 'Word Millionaire'. This is a terrific achievement which requires dedication and consistent effort to reading not only in the time provided in school but also at home.
