Eco schools - Vegetable planting
Our Eco warriors have been hard at work recently. After completing some garden maintenance and replenishing our allotments with fresh compost it was time to plant our vegetables!
We planted a good selection of vegetables this year and the children have been full of good ideas as to what to do with the vegetables when they are harvested in early Autumn. Some suggestions have been to give them to our hard working Kitchen Staff to make salad or vegetable soup for the pupils. Another pupil suggested being allowed to take all the lettuce home to feed their pet rabbit! The vegetables planted this term were cabbage, lettuce, beetroot, carrots, chillis and peppers.
The children have had a lot of fun and learned the importance and sustainability of how planting your own vegetables can have a positive impact on our World Around Us. We have more work to complete before the summer holidays so please keep an eye out for updates.
