Eco schools - Focussing on COP 26
Eco Schools – Focussing on COP 26 November 2021
As part of COP 26 the children learned about the importance of climate change and the impact it is having on our world. They designed posters citing both the causes and remedies to help reduce climate change. The posters formed part of our new display for Eco schools. As part of our awareness we watched daily news bulletins and even watched a live link from Mid and East Antrim borough council. We listened to a local speaker from the Rivers Agency as the children learned of the dangers and impact climate change is having on their local area when it comes to flooding.
We talked about some of the big causes of climate change such as pollution, plastic waste destroying our oceans and deforestation. As a result we have decided to focus even more on our recycling efforts in St Patrick's and as previously mentioned we planted a Rowan Tree in our Eco schools garden.
The children have been collecting plastic and paper rubbish to use in some of our displays and Art work in school. Reycled paper was used to make leave collages along with our Autumn shape poetry display.
